City Exploring On Foot

The average neighborhood street is pretty narrow and barely allows for cars to drive both ways. Cars park on the sidewalk.

The architecture in Darmstadt varies quite a bit. This crazy residential building was designed by Austrian multi-dimensional artist Friedenreich Hundertwasser. I didn't know it was so close to my flat, so I was stoked to have turned the corner and be able to see it only a few blocks away.

Modern and old are not far apart.

This garden is going to be awesome when spring hits. (as long as there is enough water. There hasn't been any rain or much snow this whole winter.)

Old guys playing Chess in the park.

The sun is out and so is everyone else. With stores closed, this is the spot to be. Or drinking coffee in the plazas.
This is part of University of Darmstadt.

So is this. The UDarmstadt campus is pretty cool, and right in the middle of town. If I wasn't at h_da, I would like to go here.

This is theater. It's right across the street from Schloss, which was the castle of some king (I think.) Old and new, right across the street. Sorry for not having a picture of Schloss.

Instead of fighting with skateboarders, the city added metal angle iron to these concrete benches. Skaters probably love this addition. There is another set of 4 benches perfect for a line of tricks near this. It keeps the skaters happy, and gives them a spot to ride so they're not destroying other areas.

Cobra Skulls in Darmstadt! Do I look like I'm from California? I try.

Most cars here are small. Some goofy, some cool.
This spot makes good food. I ate here after bowling, and the food made two meals for me. And vegetarian!

Junk Food!
